Sialkot lynching: Remand of accused policemen extended

SIALKOT: An accountability court has hand over DPO Waqar Chohan and five other policemen to police and extended their remand for further seven days, said sources Wednesday.

Former DPO Waqar Chohan among five other policemen, involved in the brutal killing of two brothers in Sialkot, were presented before an accountability court of Gujranwala.

DPO Waqar Ahmed Chohan and five other policemen Bashir Ahmed, Mohammad Yasin, Mohammad Akram, Nadir Hussain, Naseer Ahmed were presented before court.

The former DPO was brought to court after his seven-day remand ended.

According to court orders, he was brought in a prisoners van without any protocol.

An arrest warrant has been issued against the last nominated accused, Shafeeq Fauji, involved in Sialkot lynching, due to his absence in court.
