Rehman Malik says Balochistan not to face Swat-like operation

QUETTA: The Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, has said that the proposed operation in Balochistan will not be similar to the Swat and Malakand operations; the Frontier Constabulary (FC) has been put under the Balochistan Chief Minister after extending it powers of police.

Rehman Malik, talking to the journalists in Quetta, said that the CM Balochistan can hand over, any time, police powers to FC, to use for the operation against the terrorists.

He added that the operation in Balochistan will not match the operations being held in Swat and Malakand. During this operation only those terrorist will be apprehended, for whom very concrete proves are already available.

The Interior Minister declared five Baloch organizations, including Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), as banned out fits. He announced to launch an operation against these banned out fits along with sealing their offices and freezing accounts.
