US offers to host meeting to ease China, Japan row

HANOI: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday the United States has proposed to host a meeting among China, Japan and the United States to try to ease Sino-Japanese tension over a territorial dispute.

The U.S. secretary of state also said that the United States was pleased by Chinese assurances on its exports of rare earth minerals but said she still believed the world needed to develop alternative suppliers
