4 police, 2 accused killed in alleged shootout

CHISHTIAN: Four policemen and two accused were killed in an alleged encounter in Chistian tehsil of Bahawalnagar district on Sunday.

According to reports, a police team raided a house in Baghdad Colony to arrest an accused and assaulted female members of his family.

The move angered the accused father and son who shot and killed ASI Muhammad Amin, Head Constable Akram Vicky and Constables Muhammad Tariq and Fariq Hussain, on the spot.

After receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent rushed to the house and killed the accused, Muhammad Shafiq and Kaleem, in their home, giving it a color of encounter.

Later, Regional Police Officer Abid Saeed Qadri and DPO Mehboob Rashid reached the scene and asked for a report on the issue.
