Three aides of NY bomber arrested from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Police claimed to have arrested three close aides of suspected Times Square bomber, Faisal Shahzad, from Islamabad on Wednesday.

The arrested men, Shoaib Mughal, Hambal Akhtar and Shahid, are activists of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to a police spokesman, maps of key government buildings and literature were recovered from the possession of the suspected terrorists.

During interrogation, they admitted to providing financial assistance of over $3,500 and explosives training to Shahzad before he left for the United States.

According to reports, Faisal Shahzad stayed with the arrested TTP men in Islamabad before flying to the United States.

In addition, they also gave shelter to the attackers of Muzaffarabad's suicide bombings
