SC adjourns NRO hearing till Sept. 27

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has approved the five point summary of Swiss cases, while the Supreme Court (SC) has adjourned the hearing of NRO implementation till September 27.

The PM’s approved summary describes that the President enjoys constitutional immunity under Article-248; his Swiss cases can not be re-opened.

The summary further describes that the President is a part of the Parliament and is also the Commander in Chief of the Pakistan Armed Forces (PAF); it will be against national security to write another country to re-open cases against him.

During the hearing today, Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry asked for the court to be informed as to what decision the Prime Minister makes based on the Law Ministry's summary.

The CJ added that the court wants to see to it that the decision of the SC has been implemented, or if the Chief Executive of the country is delaying it.
