Flood aid before Eid is not possible Sindh cabinet



KARACHI: Sindh Cabinet said Saturday it is not possible to provide aid to millions of flood victims before Eid ul Fitr.




An urgent meeting of the Sindh Cabinet will take place today with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the chair.



No important decision was taken in the provincial cabinet’s meeting chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday.



It was decided that the Sindh Government would take up its case about the flood losses before the Council of Common Interests (CCI).



The cabinet was told that floods had caused losses worth Rs447 billion.



While the devastations caused by the floods in Thatta, Sujawal and Khairpur Nathan remains to be assessed.



After the meeting, Information Adviser Jamil Soomro told media that flood victims would be compensated through banks. However, he added that provision of aid to the flood-hit people before Eid was not possible
