Sialkot DPO, SP made OSD; CM takes strict notice


DPO Sialkot and SP Investigation have been made OSD by the IG Punjab in connection with brutal torture of two brother in public in Sialkot which led to their death. DPO Sialkot and SP Investigation have been asked to report in the Headquarters. Punjab CM taking strict notice has ordered to arrest all criminals and police officials involved in the incident tonight.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo moto notice of the news as Pakistan Today News footage was shown in the court. During the hearing, the CJP case expressed extreme displeasure over the response of DPO Sialkot Waqar Chauhan in handling the case.
The CJP summoned the Secretary Establishment and ordered him to suspend DPO Sialkot. The relatives of the victims cried in agony and despair while the Dunya TV footage of the incident was being shown in the court.
According to details, dozens of people tortured two young brothers to death in public in Sialkot in front of eight police officials and a big mass gathering while DPO Sialkot Waqar Chauhan was also present during the incident.
Video footages show that eight police officials kept watching the two young brothers being tortured to death but no one bothered to stop them. Then, the dead bodies were hanged upside down at the roundabout, but the reason behind this inhumane act was yet unknown.
Earlier, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif had rejected the report of the police presence on the occasion of the killings of the brothers. In his remarks, the CJ LHC urged that the court was forced to take suo moto action because IG police did not take notice of the incident.
Federal Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan while talking to Pakistan Today News said that no one should be allowed to kill a human being and no one should be allowed to take law into hands. She said that this was an inhumane act and it was a pity that police officials did nothing to stop people. She said that strict action should be taken against the culprits.
