Robbery bid at KESC grid station foiled

Karachi
The Karachi Electric Supply Company has said that its security staff and Rangers had foiled an armed robbery attempt by over a dozen dacoits at the Valika Grid Station early Saturday morning.
The dacoits escaped after an exchange of fire with the security staff but they took away four weapons. A security guard was injured in the shootout.
According to a spokesman for KESC, more than 12 armed dacoits entered the Valika Grid Station after scaling its rear boundary wall at about 04:15am on Saturday.
Five security guards, a KESC employee and four guards from a private company, who were having Sehri at the main gate, spotted the intruders and opened fire on them. The dacoits also responded with gunshots and overpowered the guards and snatched their weapons.
In the meantime, the duty operator at the grid station passed the information to the KESC Control, following which a KESC patrolling mobile from Valika-Baldia Line and a Rangers mobile reached the scene.
Heavy exchange of fire took place between the two sides, which forced the dacoits to flee. However, they took away four shotguns.
KESC’s security guard Khalid Khan, who was struck in the head with pistol butt by the dacoits, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was given first aid. No other damage was reported to the grid property. An FIR has been lodged in this regard.
