MQM MPA Raza Haider shot dead

KARACHI: MQM MPA Raza Haider has been shot dead in the Nazimabad area on Monday.
Raza Haider was targeted after he had attended a funeral in a mosque. He was injured as a result of the shooting and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. According to initial reports Raza Haider received a bullet to his head.
There are conflicting reports of the MPAs gunman being killed in the attack as well.
Raza Haider had reportedly received threats from an extremist group.
Shops are being closed down in various areas of Karachi.
Target killings claim 5 since Sunday
Earlier, One person was shot dead near fish market in New Karachi on Monday and another injured in a separate firing incident near the Northern bypass.
Four people have been killed, including a former Haq Parast councilor, in target killing incidents in Karachi on Sunday.
The situation is being reported to be very tense in Orangi Town and Shah Faisal.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on former Haq Parast councilor Jamil Khanzada when he was leaving a graveyard in Al-Falah area. Jamil was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In other target killing incidents, 30-year-old Shaukat Saleem was killed on Noor Jahan Road, Muhammad Iqbal in Baldiya Town.
A body of a young man was also recovered from Maleer. The young man was reported to be abducted and later killed.
Eight people, including police officers, were killed on Saturday.
Police and Rangers patrolling has been increased in the city after the incidents.
