A former councillor of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jameel Khanzada, was shot dead by armed men within the Al-Falah police limits.
Police sources said that the deceased was present near Azeempura graveyard Sunday evening when armed motorcycle riders came opened indiscriminate fire injuring Khanzada, and fled.
They added that Khanzada was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the deceased sustained four bullet wounds on different parts of his body. The weapon used in the attack was a 9mm pistol.
Muttahida activists and leaders reached the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC). They demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men after the death of Jameel Khanzada resorted to aerial firing in Shah Faisal Town and forced the closure of shops. Contingents of police and Rangers rushed to the place and brought the situation under control.
The deceased was a resident of Shah Faisal Colony and was a former MQM councillor. He was married and had children. A case was filed at the relevant police station.
Meanwhile, a former area president and a worker of the National Awami Party (ANP) were gunned down in the Model Colony police limits on Sunday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Waseer Khan and Muhammad Tahir, 20, sustained bullet wounds when unidentified people riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on them near the Komal Ground situated in the Model Colony police jurisdiction while they were going on a motorcycle.
The area people took him to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in a critical condition but both of them died on way to the hospital. The MLO JPMC said that the deceased received sustained multiple bullet wounds on their bodies.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and four others sustained bullet wounds in different firing incidents on Sunday.
Safar, 38, received bullet wounds, when unidentified people riding a motorcycle opened fire on him in Orangi Town No 1 in Orangi Town police limits, while he was sitting at his tea hotel. The injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition, where he breathed his last.
The SHO Orangi Town police said that deceased was the owner of a tea shop.
In a separate case, an unidentified 30-year-old man was gunned down, while Shahzad, Akram, Jamal Saleem, and Sameena sustained bullet wounds in a cross-fire between two groups in the Shah Faisal Colony police jurisdiction.
In a separate case, armed men attacked the Quetta Hotel in Orangi Town. Police sources said that the incident took place in Orangi Town No-1, at the local Quetta Tea hotel. Two persons were injured, identified as Zafar Khan and Mohammed Jameel. A case was reported at the relevant police station.
