Late FC Commandant to be awarded Sitara-e Jurrat

ISLAMABAD: The government has announced awarding Late FC Commandant Sifwat Ghayyur with Sitara-e Jurrat, said the Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik at the Peshawar airport Thursday.

Malik said that the terrorists cannot bring the nation's spirits down through their cowardly acts, and that the war against terror will be fought until terrorism is wiped out from the region.

The Commandant of Frontier Constabulary and former CCPO Peshawar, Sifwat Ghayur, was targeted in a suicide attack at FC Chowk in Saddar area of Peshawar Wednesday. Ghayur's driver and an unknown man were also martyred in the suicide attack .

Ghayur was a daring and prominent police official who was very proactive in the wave of terrorism that Peshawar has been plagued with in the past year.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in a vehicle after a nearby standing suicide attacker rushed and smashed himself to the vehicle of martyred Commandant Sifwat Ghayur at FC Chowk, Saddar, Peshawar.

ANP leader Bashir Ahmad Bilour reached immediately at the blast scene and from there confirmed that Ghayyur and his driver were martyred in the the suicidal attack..

Ghayur was the grandson of Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar, a prominent leader of the Pakistan movement. He was the brother in law of the chief of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (Sherpao group), Aftab Ahmed Sherpao.

“We salute Sifwat Ghayur and his fellows who have been martyred in the suicide attack,” said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain

Hussain said that his government is not afraid of such attacks. We will continue the war against the terrorists. It is the first blast after the killing of my son.

“The terrorists are now weaken by us and as a desperate move they want to make us weak too but we’ll not retreat.”
He said that over 100 prominent men of terrorists’ network have been apprehended by Peshawar CCPO Liaquat and Sifwat Ghayur.
Mian Iftikhar’s son, Mian Rashid Hussain was targeted in his native town, Nowshehra, last month.
