12,000 ‘sasta’ flour bags to be supplied daily

A total of 12,000 subsidised flour bags would be supplied daily in nine Ramadan bazaars which are being established in various areas of the city from August 7 (Saturday), District Food Controller Babar Khan said on Tuesday.

Briefing a meeting held here at District Coordination Officer (DCO) office, he said 5,000 subsidised flour bags would be provided daily to Ramazan Bazaars of Gulzar-e-Quaid, Choor Chowk, Dhoke Kashmirayan and Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.

While 7,000 flour bags are set to be supplied to ‘Sasta’ bazaars being established at Nawaz Sharif Park, Commercial Market, Haidery Chowk, Chungi no 22 and Committee Chowk.

The price of each flour bag has been fixed of Rs400. The rest amount will be paid by Punjab government, he said. Food department has also finalized a plan to provide cheap flour bags to the poor and needy residing in various Tehsils of Rawalpindi division during the Ramazan.

DCO Imdadullah Bosal directed Chief Traffic Officer to establish car parking while keeping a sizable distance from the bazaar aimed at avoiding congestion.
